Zulu leader, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini has been rushed to Eswatini after he was allegedly poisoned.
Misuzulu is said to have crossed the border yesterday following the death of a close aid, suspected of poisoning.
Former South Africa Home Affairs minister Mangosuthu Buthelezi last night released a statement announcing the Zulu leader’s illness.
Mangosuthu said Misuzulu chose to return to Eswatini for treatment as he could not trust his safety in South Africa. Both his father and mother died after they were admitted in SA hospitals.
The Zulu king’s office however dismissed the poisoning claims as the work of mischief makers intent on tainting the King’s image. A statement fro the King’s office said Misuzulu periodically visits Eswatini. It said there was nothing unusual for the Zulu leader to seek medical assistance if necessary while in Eswatini.
Misuzulu’s mother is Princess Mantfombi, a sister to His Majesty King Mswati III. The Zulu leader was also brought up in Eswatini. Jm/2.7.23
